Pearl's Rope Tuned Wood Ashiko features a beautiful hand carved decorative finish. The origin of Ashiko drums can be traced back to West Africa and the Yoruba tribe. The Ashiko is a close relative to the djembe and its sound is complementary to the djembe when played together in drum circles or ensembles. The long tapered cylinder of the Ashiko produces lower bass notes than djembes, with rich mid tones. Carved from a solid Mahogany log the Pearl Ashiko is 22" tall and features a 12" goat skin head. 14 EZ Twist Rope Tuners are attached and will allow you to quickly raise the pitch of the drum.
