Barrique is a rectified glazed porcelain collection by Ceramiche Refin that was launched to the market in autumn of 2013. The collection is inspired by the authenticity of wood species that are used from the olden times for fabrication of wine and liquor barrels. The surface of this tile is markedly worn-out and antiqued to introduce the vintage spirit into the decorated interiors. The series is remarkable for the versatility of textures, relief, veins and color transitions. The particular effects created by the crystallization of the sugars were observed along the grooves between the wooden slats. This natural material inspired these contemporary ceramic slabs with a retro twist: the textures, grain markings and shades evoke the worn appearance and the ageing of the wines and spirits inside the barrels.
