Our Libby's Pea variety is seasonally planted, the pods develop and then are picked plump and fresh while still young and then prepared within hours and just miles from where they were grown to seal in Farm Fresh Goodness for appealingly tender and succulent peas with a creamy, sweet, smooth and faintly nutty taste that you know and love. Libby's Sweet Peas are cultivated in the U.S. heartland by multi-generational, U.S. farmers on family-owned farms located primarily in the fertile regions of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois or Iowa. This is the prime growing region for Sweet Peas with its fertile soil and ideal combination of sun and rain fall. Once harvested our peas travels just miles and are prepared in state-of-the art, FDA inspected facilities sealing in Farm Fresh Goodness within hours of being picked! Libby's Sweet Peas are seasonally grown and harvested. "Seasonally grown" means that every year, typically in April, we plant our Peas and then let them grow and mature until about June when the harvest begins. Peas have a relatively short season compared to our Sweet Corn. In a typical year all of our Peas are fresh-harvested, shelled and prepared, sealing in their appealingly tender, succulent texture with a creamy, sweet, smooth and faintly nutty taste by July!
