This 4 ounce jar of Cochineal by Jacquard is on of the most versatile and ancient natural dyes. Producing a powerful range of reds, scarlets, violets, fuchsias and purples it has excellent light and washfastness properties. Permanent on all natural fibers it is generally used with a mordant such as alum. Use on cotton, linen, silk, canvas, hemp, wool, wood and more. The color is derived from the bodies of female insects of the species Dactylopius Coccus. Jacquard Cochineal comes directly from a small, family owned and operated, organic farm co-op in Lima, Peru.
