- Our Nano hydroxyapatite has a particle size of 60nm and an abstract ration of 2.2. Only rod shaped morphology has been established as safe after EU consumer safety performed an 8 year intensive study on hydroxyapatite with a team of 11 toxicologists. Up to 30 % nano HA is recognized as safe, however more than 10 percent is indicated to have little added benefit. In fact too much can clog the enamel pores and prevent blanced mineral uptake neccesary for remineralization, or it can aggregate and scratch enamel! More is not better. Plus not all types of Nano HP have the same effectiveness. See Below!
- Instead of ultra high Nano HP our paste features 10,000 mg per liter of theobromine. Theobromine is another highly praised and studied remineralization aide. It works as a catalyst alongside the Nano HP calcium and phosphate ions. Also, we are the only producer I know offering bioinductive carbonated Nano HP. All producers I know of use stoichiometric hydroxyapatite which naturally is not as bioavailable. Carbonated Nano HP has been prepared in a way that removes calcium ions from the surface and replaces them with carbonate so that the floating Nano HP becomes attracted to exisiting calcium rich dentin. This is how bone attracts. Essentially the carbonated crystals are more reactive.
- It is not just about concentration with Nano HP, or even bio availability, but it is also about solubilty. Nano HP is insoluble even at 30 nm it still settles, and then tends to reaggregate into bigger crystals and different structures. Therfore every other company I know of uses Nano HP treated with a chemical or buffered by polymer (plastic) to create the suspension/gel. Even fluinova uses potassium chloride, which in their case causes exposed negative ions on the crystals which then repluse from one another electrostaticaly. However the surface of the tooth is naturally negatively charged, so that Nano HP needs an extra calcium ion from somehwere in order to bind.
