The AT8176 is designed specifically to fit on our AT2040 and AT2040USB to enhance the audio quality, reduce unwanted noise, protect against environmental elements, and maintain a level of hygiene for users. The AT2040 & AT2040USB feature an internal multistage foam mesh to prevent plosive bursts of air from reaching the capsule and causing distortion. However, some users prefer an additional level of protection against plosives, along with the comfortable fit and feel provided by using a microphone with an external windscreen. The sleek design of the AT8176 provides ample protection without impeding users’ control of the mute switch on the AT2040USB.
